Driver Training

Duration

  • Basic – Just register with us
  • Basic Plus – One day
  • Ambulance
  • Response – Guided learning 150 hours
  • 4x4 Driving – One day
  • Towing – One day

 

Who Should Attend?

  • You will have been identified by your line manager as requiring skills to enable you to use SJA vehicles in a non-operational role.

 

Uniform and Equipment

Please wear your Service Delivery Uniform, hi-vis and bring your ID card.

 

Food and Drink

  • Please bring your own lunch (lunchbreak is 30 minutes)
  • Drinks will be provided

 

Information

You will need to be familiar with the highway code, road signs and their meanings, SJA driving policy and SJA fleet policy.

You should have held a full licence for two years with no more than six penalty points.

You will need to send in a Health Declaration at least one month prior to the course so that you can be signed off for the course. This can be downloaded from CONNECT, and then emailed to your volunteering team (see page 36) Please state that it is for Driving Training.

Course Content

Basic

  • Needed to move SJA feet within your licence from one location to another

Basic Plus

  • Needed to drive panel or large vehiles, minibuses

Operational Ambulance

  • Needed to drive a vehicle with a casualty on board

Response Ambulance

  • Needed to drive a vehicle with a causality under blue light conditions

4x4

  • Needed to drive any SJA vehicle which is 4x4 enabled

Towing

  • Needed to tow for SJA
